Michigan tourism boom linked to land values and public funds

Secretary Geo H. Bishop of the Upper Peninsula Development Bureau cites rising land values and tax delinquency prevention as factors behind an optimistic view of Michigan tourism. He notes 200,000 dollars yearly from tourists funds fish protection and state game programs, with overall tourist payments near a million dollars annually. Plans exist to analyze 1931 data to quantify tourism value, while land preservation and recreation areas help stabilize the wild lands through private resort purchase and tax settlement.
