Aspen trees boost Michigan timber status and新 processing plant planned
Michigan rises aspen to prominence in timber with 250 000 cords harvested in the north. The Watervliet Paper Company buys 60 acres near Clare to peel and process pebbled wood for its Watervliet plant, awaiting debarking equipment. The venture cites favorable state studies and agreements with cutters. Aspen adds over 15 million dollars yearly to the economy and supports deer browse through winter cuttings, with 40 000 acres set aside for deeryards last year.
