Expanding Horizons for Youth at MSU Farmers Week
Parents of teenagers have a stake in Michigan State University Farmers Week January 28 to February 1. The twin program Expanding Horizons for Youth runs January 29 and 31 at 10 a.m. in University Auditorium with Dr. Stanley J. Idzerda and Dr. Evelyn Duvall leading sessions on career choices for teens and guidance for parents. Georgianne Baker notes one in ten farm boys may enter farming, while girls may pursue dual careers, and high school surveys show career choice as a top concern. After each general session, 17 career areas are discussed including agricultural industry, arts, communications, nursing, science, teaching, and government service to agriculture. Further information available from county extension offices.
