Considering Grass Options For Soil Bank Land In 1963
Allen J. Collins, state conservationist, urges landowners with soil bank acres leaving contracts to keep land in grass and use it profitably. Many grass-legume pastures can support higher carrying capacities as pasture, hay, or hunting and recreational areas. Clare county had about 1500 such acres across 26 farms in 1963. SCS will prioritize helping owners adapt land use.
