CROP program to end joint operation by Catholic and Protestant groups

The Contindins 5 CRC CROP program sponsored by Catholic Rural Life and church bodies will be terminated as a joint program after a New York conference on February 7. Church World Service will run a separate CROP program with its own constituency. CROP has gathered farm commodities since 1947 for relief in hunger stricken areas, distributing to 32 countries with funds exceeding 11 million dollars. The program united Catholics and Protestants to meet urgent postwar needs. Decreasing public support made the joint operation uneconomical at this time.
