The Elm Grove Red Cross society gathered at Mrs. Carl Cotton's home on February 18 with twelve members present. Wool cloth was cut for robes, and 20 hospital pillows were filled. two sweaters, two helmets, two wristlets, and one cap muffler were completed, plus other knife articles nearly finished. Enlist Forest Fire Fighters in Defense Service

Mrs. James Rulapaugh, longtime Clare county pioneer, died at her home northwest of Farwell in Surrey township after a long illness. She was 83, and funeral services were held at Thurston Funeral Home with Rev. Kleinhardt and Rev. Burkett officiating. Burial followed in Surrey Township Cemetery. Former Clare County Girl Becomes Army Nurse for Foreign Service
Lieut. Elsie Loeffler Crowhurst of Detroit has become the first married nurse to enlist in the United States Army Medical Corps for foreign service. T Percy Crowhurst is in England, where he spent Christmas with his grandparents, whom he had not seen since emigrating to America.

Two Former Clare Ladies Injured In Falls On Icy Street
