Clare's Huge Gasser Placed Under Control
Gas from Clare's Klingener-Citizens Bank well in Grant township was capped Sunday after a flow of about 14.2 million cubic feet since Wednesday. Gulf Refining Co decided to turn gas rights to American Production Co of Grand Rapids to serve Clare and Mt. Pleasant. Drillers faced cementing difficulties to redirect gas and a state geologist later estimated a large continued output. The company plans another derrick on the property for an oil test.

Mrs. Asa Bump of Cambridge Springs reports that Mr. Bump died suddenly on the night of January 24, his wife Grace Costello noting she found him lifeless in bed the next morning. The couple had earlier run a Clare grocery and he also worked on the railroad. A good four wheel trailer is for sale at Samborn's Produce in Clare.

Guy Hardy Burned In Garage Explosion Last Saturday
