Anna G Halberg born January 31 1859 in Sno berg Havero Sweden died December 19 at the farm east of Lake of pneumonia aged 71 years 10 months 18 days She married Andrew Oman in 187? emigrated to Lake Clare county Michigan 1888 husband died of pneumonia 1889 She married Marcus Oman November 22 1890 He preceded her in death three years ago Survived by four sons Louis Peter Charles John and three daughters Carrie Anna Mary ten grandchildren and other relatives Funeral services held Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev Chas Kleinhardt.

Epworth League presents a Sunday service at the Methodist church with Dorothy Green as host. old timers to appear on the program. Services at 6 30 PM attract interest and older attendees are invited after a well led vacation meeting with forty six participants last Sunday.

Radio highlights Clare natives in state programs

Miss Frieda A. Gilmore of Michigan State College Extension spoke on WKAR from Lansing as part of a broadened state radio service. Gilmore, a Clare HS graduate and MSC alumna, covers seven lower peninsula counties and two in the upper peninsula. Also heard was Verna Harrold singing Christmas music over WIR from Pontiac. Harrold now lives in Grand Rapids and visited her Clare relatives over the holidays. The Berry Brothers Paint Company announced S. A. Wilkinson as the Clare dealer for Berrycraft products on WJR.

Plan to Broadcast Extensive WKAR Programs

Michigan State College plans its most extensive radio schedule from WKAR for January through March. Daily early morning soils and farming talks, noon Farm Service reports with weather, weekly state department and highway updates, Saturday noon addresses from campus leaders, homemaker and College of the Air segments, and music from students. Cadillac Judge Files New Charge In Prohibition Case

Judge E J Millington of Wexford county issues a new charge following the arrest of Ralph Nutter age 19 for unlawful possession and destruction of liquor to prevent seizure. Ralph Nutter and his father James appeared before the court with examinations set for December 26. The younger man posted 2500 bond while James posted 1000. the elder was also accused of transporting liquor in a motor car.

Miss Verna Holmes announced her approaching marriage to Mr. Victor M. Peckham of Lowell. The wedding is planned for Sunday in Ann Arbor and the couple expect to reside in Pittsburg, where Peckham has practiced law since June after graduating from the University of Michigan Law Department.

Pioneer of Gilmore Departs This Life

Mrs. Hugh M. Graham of Gilmore township died Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at her daughter Mrs. Aliza Brasington’s home. Her husband Mr. Graham died about fifteen years ago. Funeral is Friday at Jesse Brasington’s home then Gilmore Disciple church with interment in Gilmore cemetery. She is grandmother of Mrs. Albert Thurston of this city.

Oldest Perry Daughter Dies at Bay City

The Perry family mourns Theresa A born October 25 1930 the eldest of five siblings died at Samarian hospital Bay City after a weeks illness from cerebellar meningitis. She was a bright fifth grader and the funeral at Thurston Funeral Home was conducted by Rev H B Johnson with local clergymen assisting.

State to Receive Federal Road Aid

Gov. Fred W. Green was notified of President Hoover signing a bill that releases federal highway funds for immediate use. Michigan will gain about 2.5 million dollars, to be matched dollar for dollar by the state, boosting ongoing highway projects and employment, including grading and paving U. S. 10 from Midland to Ludington.

Youth Dies From Gunshot Wounds In Mason Michigan

Funeral services were held at Clare Methodist church for Seldon Charles Stone of Mason who died from a gunshot wound received while playing with his half brother Russell Aker. He was 6th grade student, 4-H member, and son of Mr. and Mrs. Selden Stone. Burial in Cherry Grove cemetery. He is survived by his mother stepfather two brothers one half sister and grandparents.

Resident of Clare Fifty-Five Years Dies Tuesday Eve

Following several weeks of illness Chas Peters aged 76 passed away Tuesday evening at 8 30. He had lived in the vicinity over fifty five years. Funeral Saturday morning from his home with Rev W W Hurd officiating. Interment at Cherry Grove. Obituary to be published next week.

About twenty five Log Cabin Club members and friends surprised Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Wellman at their West Seventh Street home to celebrate their twenty fifth marriage anniversary. Lake George Man Displays Rare Flintlock Pistol Relic

Harry Kress of Lake George showed in Clare a 1860s era flintlock pistol carved from a tree by his father in the early 60s. The gun bears a Mayflower emblem on one side and a crown with the Roman V on the barrel. The relic could fetch good value if offered for sale.

Aged Clare Citizen Jasper Snider Dies at 89

Jasper S Snider, aged 89, longtime Clare resident and Prince Edward Ontario native, died Sunday afternoon. He was born April 5 1842, married Frances Culley January 12 1867, moved to Wise township in 1890 and Vernon City in 1900. Survived by eight children and several grandchildren. funeral Tuesday at home with Rev E T Smith, burial beside his wife in Cherry Grove.
