Michigan Deer Season Yields Larger Kill Despite Fewer Hunters
Michigan Department of Conservation reports the open deer season killed about 20 000 deer, larger than 1933, but with a lower hunter success rate. Bear transport across Mackinac Straits set a record, over 150. Five hunters died, all by hunting companions, and gun accidents injured two. Confiscations reached nearly 800 shotguns and rifles for game law violations in September and October.
