The Clare School Board met in extended closed session Monday night to discuss Superintendent Richard Snyder’s contract which expires in June after 13 years as superintendent and 3 as high school principal. No raises in years, evaluations requested, and a follow up session is planned.
Clare City Commission approves a 50000 infusion from Federal Revenue Sharing to match 150000 from Upper Great Lakes and 18000 from Farmers Home Administration for a 218000 Industrial Park finish. Work has started with bids accepted for earthwork sewer and water services.
St Johns Lutheran Church on McEvents in Clare will host a Bloodmobile event on December 8 from noon to 6 pm. Officials ask 17 or 18 year olds to bring parental permission, and welcome new donors. They urge volunteers to donate a pint of blood as a life saving holiday gift.
Santa Claus arrives in Clare at 10 30 a m this Saturday December 10 with a new home beside the Ideal theater funded by Bill Koch. He will greet youngsters after the parade in Clare.
Three Hatton Township officials Larry Kleinhardt supervisor Shirley Rilett treasurer and Judith DeVall trustee face recall petitions filed by Fred C. Guiette. Charges cite failing to advertise meetings and delaying a repeal vote on a zoning ordinance adopted July 26 1977. Officials deny all charges.
Voters in half of Clare city, half of Grant Township and all Hatton Township will vote Monday December 12 in a District 3 primary for County Commissioner. Incumbent Joe Moose seeks re election alongside Fred Guietie and Karl Krantz, all Republicans. A Jan 31 runoff will decide the seat, with district boundaries and precincts defined for Clare Precinct 1, Grant Township Precinct B, and surrounding areas.
