Editor Dean M. Bucholz Dies After Car Crash

Dean M. Bucholz 40 of Harrison, editor of the Clare County Cleaver, died Sunday night from injuries after a one car wreck near Harrison. He edited the paper since 1957 and was known in the community for promoting local athletics. He is survived by his parents, three brothers, and his wife. Services were held at the Harrison Congregational Church.

Install New NPNA Officers at Crooked Lake Meeting

The Isabella Clare N P N A met at Mrs. Juanita McMasters Crooked Lake home on August 10 to install new officers for the year. Elected are Ella McConnell president Jeanetta Woodward vice president Dorothea McNeil secretary Kathleen Weaver treasurer. A October Lan sing workshop and a year advisor were discussed. The traveling basket was presented to Mrs. McConnell and the next meeting is September 2 with Mrs. Marie Stanek.

Fifteen Seek Trustee Posts in Clare Gladwin College Election

James C. McNamara announces fifteen candidates for Clare Gladwin County Community College trustee posts with six elected. Club Members View Prize Beef at Clare Packing

Four H beef club members visited Clare Packing Company in Clare to study steer carcasses sold at the county fair auction. They examined rib eye, marking, conformation and maturity, while Nick Jabour identified each carcass with member names and show placements. The government grader explained carcass features and how bone structure and marbling influence age, tenderness, and final grade.

Lansing Man Dies In Expressway Crash Near Clare

Charles W. Schroeder a 48 year old Lansing resident died when his car left the expressway five miles north of Clare striking a concrete pillar of a new overpass. Witnesses including 25 construction workers saw the high speed impact as the driver sped past warnings and a flagman.

Central Division employees of Consumers Power Company completed 24 months without a lost-time accident on August 9 1965 at 12 00 midnight. Area Schools Announce 65 Opening Dates

Clare Public Schools begin half day sessions on September 8 and 9 with grade schedules to be announced. Labor Day week includes September 7 teacher meetings. Harrison and Farwell set a mix of teacher meetings and half day classes at end of August and start of September. Coleman plans August 31 opening for grades 1-12, kindergarten September 1, with 1350 enrollment expected and new facilities and staff. Open houses schedule September 14 to 23 and a fall election planned for new classrooms.

Clare City Names Mrs. Ruark City Clerk

The Clare City Commission named Mrs. Madge Ruark to replace resigning David Adams as clerk-treasurer. The $4,800 yearly post takes effect September 1. The body heard a request for probe into alleged illegal traffic ticket practices without action. A resolution was approved to study adding 16 street lights on N. McEwan near the city park.

Exhibit Class Grows Larger At Co Fair

One hundred sixty two 4-H members exhibited at the Clare County Fair which ended August 7 with a growing number in Home Economics and Educational projects. Jane Walters of Clare led foods with breads from other lands and canned meats earning a state fair ribbon.
