A sequence of two dozen incidents on Fifth Street US-27 and US-10 involved drivers from Beaverton Clare Midland and Harrison with damages ranging from 10 to 500 dollars. Warnings and tickets were issued for speeding expired license and failure to yield as vehicles collided and a train barrier was compromised.

Missing in Korea: Clare native Cpl. James A. Reeder
Mrs. James A. Reeder of Clare received a telegram from the U.S. Army in Washington stating her son, Cpl. James A. Reeder, is missing in action in Korea since July 15. Reeder, born in Clare, enlisted in August 1948, served as a mechanic with Headquarters Company of the 19th Infantry, and had previously sought service since age sixteen.

John Little Chosen Training Counselor At YMCA Camp

Jury Acquits Daggett in Minors Alcohol Case
A four member jury in Municipal Justice Wm. B. Dunlop’s court found Daggett not guilty after 28 minutes of deliberation. Daggett, operator of Sportmen Bar near Farwell on M-115, was tried for allegedly selling alcohol to minors with a take out license on June 22. Testimony from three minors and defense witnesses claimed Daggett was not at his bar on the day in question. The trial ran from 10:60 am to 2:45 pm Thursday.
