State Workers To Save With Private Insurance Plan
Michigan's 31 000 state employees would receive health coverage equal to or better than Blue Cross Blue Shield at an annual reduction of 750 000 by a contract under negotiation with a private insurer. Civil Service Chairman George N Higgins said Blue Cross joined other bidders to press the commission to change carriers while three private offers beat Blue Cross on health coverage. The plan, with Aetna Life Insurance Company, would start enrollment soon and take effect in July or August.
