An old fashioned minstrel show was staged in Clare High School on Monday April 13 at 8:00 pm. The cast featured Theo Wallington as interlocutor and Morrel Clute as Rose Bush among others with Dixie Land Band providing music. The program included sketches such as The Preacher and the Bear and a variety of dances, drawing a large audience and about $95 in receipts.

Red Cross Activities at Lake George Hall Turnout Praises
The Red Cross display by the Friendly Logia Club at Lake George Community Hall on April 9 drew a favorable crowd. Mrs. G E B Lamb outlined county unit policies while Mrs. Frank Thilly’s Afghan sale raised 1410 dollars for more Red Cross materials. Tea and songs accompanied the event with thanks to all who helped.

Mark Rodabaugh Passes Away in Clare
Mark L. Rodabaugh a Clare resident for over twenty years died at his Second Street home at 5:00 am Thursday at seventy two. He worked eighteen years for the Ann Arbor and Pere Marquette Railroads before retiring four years ago and had been in poor health for eighteen months. He is survived by son John of Clare and four daughters Mrs Clifford Roberts Vernon Township Mrs Bertha Slater Clare Mrs Hugh Crawford Farwell and Mrs Marshall Landon Pontiac. Funeral services will be held at the Doherty Funeral Home Sunday at 2:00 pm with Elder Pendleton Beaverton officiating and burial in Cherry Grove Cemetery. His life story will be published next week.

Ernestine Clute Dies At Home In Clare
Ernestine Luella Turbush Clute, longtime Clare resident and Baptist church worker, died at her home on State street Monday. Born October 15 1858 in Ingham county Michigan she lived in Vernon township before moving to Clare in 1908. She married Andrew Clute in 1881 and had four sons Christopher William Jay and James all but James preceded her. Funeral services were held at Clare Baptist church with Rev Floyd Galusha and burial in Cherry Grove Cemetery beside her husband and three sons.
