Five Occupants Escape Serious Injury In Demolished Auto
Mr and Mrs Christopher Porter, their son My, and Mrs WM McManaman and daughter of Clare R-4 narrowly escaped serious injury Monday night when Porter's eastbound car from Rosebush hit loose gravel, struck a telephone pole, rolled, and destroyed about thirty feet of woven wire fence. All occupants survived with minor cuts and bruises.

Mrs J Monehen laid to rest in Clare Cemetery
Funeral services were held at St Cecilia's Church for Mrs John Monehen who died suddenly last Wednesday. Interment followed at St Cecilia's cemetery. Margaret Mary Morgan born March 27 1916 in Naubinway Michigan moved to Clare at age three and later married John Monehen January 18 1941. She worked five years in the Auditor General's department in Lansing and leaves husband baby Michael mother and sisters.

Thomas Groves dies after long Clare service and auctions
Funeral services were held for Thomas Groves a Clare resident who died at his home on McEwan Street. He was born September 10 1876 in Paulding County Ohio and lived in Clare County for thirty five years. He ran a restaurant in Greenwood Township later worked in auto and insurance and built a gas station in 1938. Groves served as night officer and conducted auctions as a side line. He left a widow eight children and three grandchildren.
