Artists of the Western Frontier, a major collection of oil paintings watercolors and sketches depicting exploration and settlement of the American West, goes on display Saturday October 26 through December 22 at the Cedar Rapids Art Center. Northern Natural Gas Company Omaha owns the collection and sponsors Iowa Illinois Gas and Electric and Iowa Electric Light and Power. The display features Catlin works from the Smithsonian and Bodmer and Miller pieces from Northern Natural Gas, including Sac and Fox Indian scenes and Missouri River travel watercolors.
