Local 1858 members heard District Director Al Whitehouse and Rollin H. Everett discuss the president’s Fact Finding Board report and wage negotiations. A 100 turnout was urged for the October 23 District 25 U S A Conference at Gibson Hotel, with Everett endorsing union support and a donation to his campaign fund.
A new United Steel Workers Local 2972 was formed in Oakley Colony with about 155 Cincinnati Planer plant workers meeting October 1 at 6101 Prentice Street Madisonville. Officers elected include William Howe president and L J Rossman vice president, with several secretaries and guards named. installation was by Pete Wheeler of Local 22 Newport.
Amalgamated Clothing Workers and related locals announce multiple union meetings at 1015 Vine Street and various venues. Listings cover Local 113 through Local 3243 with dates October 7 to October 21 and times from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Cincinnati area venues.
Everett notes from page one show the concessionaire turned over only $150 of profits to the university. He asserts continued questioning and promises supporters he will keep asking questions.
Local 1861 met in special session on Sunday October 2 and heard a report on successful contract negotiations with American Can Co.
