Trailmobile Seniority Proposal Rejected By Union
Management pushed a plan to split seniority into department and plant wide lists for a new product with about 150 workers. The union demanded keeping existing contract and warned the move would lay off many older workers. The committee opposed the two-tier system and rejected the plan, calling it disunifying tactics. A later flash said plant wide seniority would be applied to current workers with recalls on departmental lists, still rejected as contrary to the contract. Holiday pay for 118 employees was arbitrated May 2 with no decision yet.
