The Ohio Legislature passed a liberalized Unemployment Compensation bill after bitter battles with Big Business, incorporating CIO Council features. The governor signed it, and it becomes law on August 22, hailed as one of the best in the state's history.
James B. Carey of the CIO accuses the AMA House of Delegates of lip service and failure to commit to standards for voluntary group health plans. He cites Atlantic City action, intra AMA disputes, and local restrictive practices that bar physicians in group plans, urging a clear, national stance.
After the regular Local 200 ACW meeting at Union Hall on Friday June 10 a beer party with orchestra and refreshments followed. Business agent Henry Seibert explained contract regulations governing vocations to about four hundred attending. The event ended with dancing and singing and was the last gathering until September.
