A CIO message from Philip Murray urges Ohio CIO units to instruct congressmen and President Truman to restore FEPC appropriations. The plea stresses the need to continue Roosevelt era non discrimination policy in industry and to oppose diversion of FEPC funds by the House Appropriations Committee.
Ohio CIO Council President Jack Kroll says state level applications of the national labor management charter have broken down. CIO AFL representatives met Herschel Atkinson of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce to seek a local understanding aligned with the national pact led by Eric Johnston Philip Murray and William Green.
The Ohio Chamber of Commerce balked at a state level measure after the national chamber approved it. The action faced stiff board opposition and ongoing resistance to labor movement demands.
CIO President Murray accuses Senate Republicans led by Taft of pitching to weaken price and rent controls to aid profiteers while urging rapid civic action. The report outlines a one year renewal plan and warns against a short term extension.
