In St Paul Minnesota 1100 grade and high school teachers end the first large scale urban strike. New wage scales rise to 2400 to 3600 annually retroactive to January 1 with top pay reaching 4200 by September 1. Settlement follows approval of added education funds by the city charter commission.
A CIO release lists national groups approved for delegate sending or funding by state and local councils. In race relations the American Jewish Congress NAACP National Council for a Permanent FEPC National Urban League and United Negro College Fund are named. Veterans groups include the American Legion AVC Amvets and others. Educational groups include the American Labor Education Service and several labor schools. The CIO notes non listed groups are not judged for merit, only not yet recognized.
