Arbiters Hear Layoff Challenge Of Union Leader
The dispute over the definite layoff of Betty Mullen, vice-president of Local 1009 United Paper Workers, was heard by arbitrator Harry H. Platt at the Conciliation office. Davidson, regional CIO director, represented Mullen with John W. Peck for Gardner Richardson Paper Co. A two week decision period was noted. The layoff followed a nine week 1947 strike amid a company union challenge to bargaining rights.
