President Roosevelt presented Congress on January 11, 1944 with an Economic Bill of Rights. The list asserts rights to remunerative work, adequate food and clothing, a decent living for farmers, freedom from monopoly, a decent home, medical care, protection from economic fears, and a good education for all citizens.
Franklin D Roosevelt speeches will be broadcast on WLW Friday at 10 30 p m as part of the Roosevelt Memorial Program. Sponsored by several civic groups including CIO and NAACP the 30 minute airing features actors and musicians in a March of Time style. This marks one of the first posthumous reproductions since his death April 12 of last year.
The Greater Cincinnati Industrial Union Council plans wider CIO and PAC activity and SUN promotion. Ray Tucker chaired an Organization Committee report urging more rank and file union participation and expanded SUN coverage. The board eyed a CIO athletic program and urged endorsements on Britain loan action.
The Record urges eligible voters to read Hamilton County's delegation record to the State Legislature printed on Page 3 of The SUN. The note encourages discussing a strong opposition slate and planning to campaign for November elections.
Marvin C. Harrison, Cleveland attorney and Democratic candidate, told Progressive Citizens Committee events in Cincinnati that John W. Bricker is an isolationist and would vote for wrong domestic decisions. He pledged to publish a pamphlet exposing Bricker and outlined Roosevelt era program support.
Local 757 volunteers clash with city police over charity picketing for J H Day and Allis Chalmers strikers at the Formica plant. Officers claim violation of a beggar law while union members insist they are advertising relief efforts. Members plan continued Tuesday drives as strike support grows.
