Cincinnati Fire Fighters Earn Top National Rating on 50th Anniversary
Cincinnati Fire Fighters Association Local 476 and the IAFF AFL-CIO, with 918 members led by President Robert Welch and Vice-President Joseph A Patterson, are celebrated after Cincinnati earned a Number One fire protection rating. The award came from the American Insurance Association following an independent survey. Mayor Ruehlmann proclaimed Fire Fighter Week from February 28 through March 5 as the city marks the IAFF milestone. Cincinnati’s civic work includes toy drives, orphanage booths, and the annual Miles-of-Dimes collection, underscoring the department’s community role since the city’s 1853 birth of professional firefighting.
