Metropolitan Life agents strike in 18 states
About 150 Metropolitan Life Insurance Co agents in the Cincinnati area join an 18 state walkout begun May 20. Local 181 members of the Insurance Workers International Union AFL-CIO back the action with 100 percent participation, seeking higher wages expense allowances and better working conditions.

National Labor Committee Formed to Back Humphrey
A National Labor Committee for Humphrey has been formed with Steelworkers President I W Abel as President and IBEW Secretary-Treasurer Joseph Keenan. Founding members include about 160 AFL CIO officers and local leaders, representing roughly 90 percent of the Federation, acting as individuals to assist Vice President Hubert Humphrey's presidential nomination and election.
