He says Miller used teachers as pawns, moved staff to other schools, and opposed a modest 1.28 percent raise while funding offices and a radio caster to bolster his image. He vows to quit both teacher unions.

Former Cincinnatian Becomes IAM Millionth Member
Timothy Braunstein of Cincinnati became the millionth member of the International Association of Machinists. He was honored at a Washington banquet by IAM officers, Labor Secretary Wirtz and AFL-CIO President Meany. Braunstein, 24, member of IAM Lodge 1746 East Hartford, is a Pratt & Whitney employee and joined IAM last December. He said joining stemmed from believing in the local union. He began as a football standout at Roger Bacon High School.

NLRB Rules Fashion Fair Guilty of Unfair Charges

Formica Strike Settled After Long Mediation Walkout
The 1400 member IUE Local 757 strike against Formica Corp reached a crossroad as mediation resumed before Federal Mediator Edward Endes. An unusual Saturday session on February 10 produced a final offer from Formica. A membership vote on acceptance or rejection was to follow. President Al Leigh said no terms could be promised and the outcome remained uncertain. The strike spans ten weeks, the longest in Local 757 Formica history. A full report was promised next week.

Council Offices Closed Feb 22 for George Washington’s Birthday
The Cincinnati AFL-CIO Labor Council and The Chronicle will close on Thursday February 22 in observance of George Washington’s Birthday. Business and other operations will be suspended at both offices while distribution remains unchanged.
