Cincinnati AFL-CIO Labor Council appeals to all locals for financial support for IUE Local 757 strikers at Formica plants. About 1400 members began the Dec 10 walkout over wages and conditions, now entering an eighth week. Gifts to Local 757 FUE are requested, with plant gate collections organized and details available from Howard Elliott at 821-7148.
IUE Local 757 mourns Gil Hamilton killed by a strike breaker truck at Formica Corp Evendale plant. A longtime union steward and dedicated worker, he died on the job during a tense labor dispute, underscoring the human cost of conflict on the line.
Machinists District Council No. 34 elects officers for 1968 at the January 22 meeting. Arnold Tucker is named President with Alexander Roberto as Vice President and William D. Somma as Secretary Treasurer. Conduct or David Patterson and trustees James Funicelli Joseph Capito Jacob Hart are also elected.
The Sheet Metal Workers Local 141 schedules a regular meeting for Tuesday February 6 1968. Members are urged to attend and discuss union business and local matters.
