A colored brakeman George Hord on the Peru Indianapolis and Chicago Railroad fell between two cars and was crushed to death near the city after being intoxicated. Another brakeman Michael Lynch on the Evansville and Cincinnati road was killed near Sullivan while making a rushing switch. The Indianapolis Fair is strong in display but poor in attendance with over 5 000 entries. Suit for damages by John Kennedy against Alfred T Sinker and others seeks 5 000 for injuries from the Star Fair explosion two years ago.
