Several claims were ordered paid and the meeting adjourned until tomorrow morning.
In a United States Court session late yesterday, the jury found for defendants H. J. Cordesman Dietrich and others in a bill filed by Francis P. Heller alleging an injury to their patent furnace and seeking injunction with $50,000 in question.
The Grover & Baker Sewing Machine Company sues its General Agent John Emrick and bondsmen in federal court. Action stems from Emrick’s alleged failure to make full returns with $1,600 allegedly withheld, sought by plaintiffs.
Frank A. Walz, a Chamber of Commerce member, died last night at 9 o clock at his Brookville Indiana residence. The death was reported in Change today.
Real estate sale report states John H. Loud, the auctioneer, sold the four story brick warehouse at No 36 Front to Theo Marsh Esq for 11100 dollars this morning.
In a Superior Court general term before Judges Tildes Yaple and O Connor the heirs of E C Rolls sue Elizabeth Riddle for a fraudulent conveyance of lands near Cumminsville conveyed to Riddle in 1800 The case notes Adam N Riddle husband of the defendant was administrator of E C Roll and procured a probate sale order to pay estate debts The sale was advertised in the weekly Enquirer as alleged by the plaintiffs
The case centers on a property sold to Aly Parker, then resold to Reeves as trustee for Mrs. Riddle. The trust deed states that on Mrs. Riddle’s death the property goes to her Adam N. Riddle heirs. The deed predates the administrator’s deed to a manager of irregulars, suggesting fraud by the administrator. There were twenty bids for Government gold totaling 2,642,000 dollars at prices from 109.76 to 190.16. Half a million gold was awarded by the Government at prices from 110.10 to 110.16.
In Washington on October 2 a safe plea, prosequi, was entered for Hayes. He will be used as a witness sealant in the case against his late co-defendants.
The wife of John Bennett of Newport Kentucky gave birth to twins on the 24th a boy and 4 girl each weighing seventeen pounds. A runaway horse hit an express wagon and sped east on Third street from Race about a quarter past 3 this afternoon scattering vehicles and bondage before being halted between Walnut and Main streets without material damage. The horse Selene belonged to John Dolasd.
The Clarion lists governor Ames pardoning convicts since the 21st, including 0 colored and 1 white released, totaling 10. Under acting Governor Davis, 31 colored and 10 white were pardoned with sentences from one year to life. Also noted is word that Siree Robinson has set up a provisional Fiji government with estimated annual revenue of $125,000.
