Patriot Lucy and the Hair Necklace Sacrifice
In Philadelphia during the Revolution, Lucy Seymour sells hair necklaces made from her own hair to aid starving countrymen. Edwin Ashton, captured in battle, receives one via a benefactor and later earns his freedom. Reunited, Edwin weds Lucy, who wore the distinctive necklace as a symbol of patriotic sacrifice.
