Horrible Affair Ends in Suicide After Murder Attempt
At about 3 PM in a small Liberty Street saloon Fred Demeyer a drunken German attempted to shoot his wife missing her. He fled to Shoemaker's rear yard where he shot himself under the jaw dying twenty minutes later at Cincinnati Hospital. He was 39 and had a troubled marriage with Mrs Demeyer 34 a mother of fourChildren aged six to the oldest. Both born in Germany Demeyer served six years in the German army and six in the U S. Since discharge he drank heavily and worked little.
