Dayton May 22 Short Line pay car traveled north this morning. Louisville delegation to the National Convention of German Catholic Beneficial Societies moved east. Tonight the Short Line light train will take to Rochester Dayton delegation joined by Cincinnati Covington and Newport delegations.
Special Dispatch reports the Wayne County Sabbath School Association in session at Lyceum Hall Richmon d. Notable speakers From Indianapolis Delaware Ohio and others attend. A children's mass meeting is planned for the evening at the same venue.
The St Louis May 22 session of the Presbyterian General Assembly opened with Rev J. Wilson as Moderator. Devotional exercises framed the day. The program outlined committees on Overures, Judicial, Polity, Home Missions, Freedmen, Education, Publication, Church Erection, Theological Seminaries, Ministerial Relief, Sustentation, and Correspondence. Mayor Johnston will issue a proclamation tomorrow for a special election to fill the Board of Trustees vacancy caused by Paul Reinlein's resignation. The date of the election has not yet been fixed.
The Work House sentences for minor offenses were handed down this morning by Judge Marchant. George Meyer Michael Whalen and Wm. Kelley received fifteen days and ten dollars costs for disorderly conduct. Francia Brady was sentenced to four months for stealing a small lot of clothing from Mr. Silver. John Wagoter drew three months for drunkenness and Annie Eckert received three months for vagrancy.
An entertainment at Pike's Opera House next Monday benefits the Cincinnati Light Guards. The new drama Scarlet and Greeny Callahan, praised at prior performances, will be featured with songs readings and additional items for a lively program.

His tale was inconsistent and letters raised suspicion. case continued until morning. Bail set at 200 dollars, he remains in custody.
Mayor Johnston reports from Cincinnati chamber of commerce that churches raised 4537 dollars 18 cents for Southern sufferers and the funds remain in possession awaiting investment and leasing options as advised by New Orleans relief officers.
U S Commissioner Halliday heard from Thomas Langdon who was arrested last week for attempting to pass counterfeit money with 197 in counterfeit fifty cent pieces found on him and he was committed in default of 1300 bail awaiting next Grand Jury mention. James Sutton was jailed in Tren ton Ohio with counterfeit nickels dies and material to manufacture the same and is to answer before the next Grand Jury. Andrew Miller and August Langabin were arrested for violating revenue laws by manufacturing cigars without license and will have a hearing this afternoon at 9.
Members of Zion Baptist Church recall Hawkins who went to collect funds for debts but did not return. A Louisville dispatch reports Hawkins has been arrested there and requests holding him until proper legal steps can be taken. If processed, he may soon return to face accountability for prior stewardship claims.
The Geneva drowning victims are identified as William Woodbury, John Crane, and James Crane. The May 2 report from Loxton lists the three students among the drowned Americans.
Washington May 22 The House Judiciary Committee has the Civil Rights bill under consideration today and agreed to a plan related to White House remarks. The President and family met in Washington for a farewell visit as crowds filled the East Room and floral decorations were noted for the wedding. An invitation to foreign interests to attend the 1876 International Exposition in Philadelphia was also discussed, with the Senate Appropriations Committee seeking limits on expenses tied to the Exposition.
Chicago May 2 The Sagamon County Circuit Court ruled it retained jurisdiction over railroad cases sought to go to the Federal Courts. The decision defies the writ of certiorari from the United States Circuit Court, marking a direct jurisdiction clash and a clear contempt.
In a morning session Judge Cox heard the railroad war case with the Receiver stating he holds possession of the road. Plaintiffs urged entry of a final decree while defendants demanded specific modifications or none. The dispute led to an appeal from the order overruling the demurrer and appointing the Receiver.
George R. McCann, crippled with one cork leg, arrested by Officers Mead and White for grand larceny after a drunken partner, Edward Simpson of Kentucky, lost a $100 gold watch, chain, and $42 in cash at Hunt's Dining Rooms. Ohio Public Works lessees sue to forfeit water power lease for nonpayment. Judge Tilden rules remedy by forfeiture lies with lessees in their name, State not a proper party. Court does not decide if forfeiture action can be maintained or must be possessory. Motion overruled.
