Reunion of Fritz and Gertrude at Geneva Villa
In Geneva in 1926 a traveller visits a lakeside villa, reunites with Gertrude the old nurse, and learns of Fritz’s return from exile. Gertrude recounts his past, the uncle Beaute’s harsh acts, and Fritz’s discovery of Clemence, the “Pearl of Geneva,” as Willem’s intended bride.
