New Orleans March 29 Last night fire started in Leopold Thompson’s house at 31 Annette Street Third District and destroyed it. The flames spread to the corner of Annette and Morales as water supply failed and wind drove the blaze. About fifteen small buildings on a half block bounded by Annette Morales Wiguhart and St Anthony streets were consumed. Hydrants four to five blocks away could not deliver water due to drainage problems. Firemen were severely burned in the effort to fight the blaze. Loss estimated at twenty thousand dollars, possibly higher.
