Pittsburg Pa March 4 a horrible accident occurred at 6 o clock at the steel works of Anderson Ward Co An employee named John Jenkins not on duty went to the mill intoxicated and fell into a roll slide. He was drawn through with body crushed and scalp nearly torn from the head. Later a dispatch from Coroner Harrold Cambria County reports a woman murdered in the woods near Johnstown her body burned and clues destroyed except false teeth a few locks of hair and rusty step rimmed spectacles were found. Chief Erwin and Chief Harris arrested a man named Moore at Lillys Station this morning as the murderer with strong evidence against him. The murderer woman has been identified as a dressmaker Autbrose formerly of Allegheny City.
Henry Weaver, aged 86 and among the oldest settlers, died at his Urbana residence after a brief lung fever illness. His funeral is set for tomorrow. Weaver was the county’s wealthiest resident with an estate valued at about half a million. Fred Miller faces trial in Common Pleas Court tomorrow for an alleged murder and highway robbery in Oberlin, with a likely full term anticipated at Colombes.
In Dayton Ohio on March 4, Mr Sheeley was released at 3 o clock. Trustees of the Montgomery County Childrens Home reappointed Mrs Grady as Matron for 1872. Early Sunday at 1 45 A M the brick stable owned by Colonel Hutchins burned despite a full Fire Department response. The loss, about 39000, included two horses valued at 700 and contents. insurance with Hartford was 2400. Fire judged incendiary.
