John W Coffee, Postmaster at Fairplay in Greene county Kentucky, accused of depredations on the mails as they passed through his hands, fled before arrest. The thefts allegedly continued for several months and Coffee has not been heard from since his departure.
The Horizon from Liverpool docked in Boston with about nine hundred Mormon emigrants. Captain Reed notes the group followed leaders closely, calling themselves true saints, keeping regular prayer hours, and mostly singing when not praying.
