Coroner begins inquest into the death of Alice Jackson on New Year’s Day from alleged morphine overdose. Dr J. Richardson says morphine was prescribed for the mother and the child was dying of scarlet fever. Inquest to resume next afternoon. Nicholas Haeffer, oil pioneer and former Findlay Market leader, dies at 3 AM from a stroke. He settled near Findlay Market, served as City Commissioner, and was a noted figure. Dr James Taylor addresses the Board of Trade on National Currency, earning a vote of thanks.
