Superior Court before Judge Yaple hears suit by Hermann H Sleeper against Cincinnati Railroad Company seeking 1080 dollars for injuries after a fall attributed to darkness and impaired eyesight on the Sharonville line near 1872. At Union City Tennessee early this morning a fire started in a building corner and swept three blocks. J O Stanbrough properties suffered heavy losses with several occupants, including Cannon Sons and Schaeffer’s store, many insured. The blaze caused about 12500 dollars in damage with 25500 insured. Fire crews saved other stock and a jeweler. Two weeks prior a similar fire prompted suspicion of incendiary arson. Thos Lawson and others acted heroically to save the rest of the block.
Secretary of State Johnson entered the State House and ordered Brooks and his men out of the governor's office. Brooks rejected the order, asserting Governor Baxter's authority and threatening to call troops. No decisive outcome reported. calm today amid tensions and public satisfaction with the call for order.
