A chaotic law report covers a court case on a church division plan, a motion for a four member committee to divide property, and opinions on pastor Rev. Mr. Conway. Also noted are a runaway horse incident, a suspected horse theft accusation with a questionable owner claim, Democratic Executive Committee meetings, and a Clinton Street burglary with substantial theft but intact goods.
A long session records the Protective Union meeting with minutes adopted and a committee report approving a Shop Committee at Mitchell & Rammmelsberg while opposing a Priveltina for their shop. They plan a morning meeting at Arblinr Hall to confer with employers and appoint a two member committee to obtain black canvas. A Louisville cabinet-maker request to form a society and copy the Cincinnati Constitution is noted, with secretary instructed to respond. A debate arises over a proposed joint agreement not to employ workers who left prior shops, clarified as not proposed by F. Rammelsberg or any manufacturer. The issue is presented to illustrate an improper position. News of robberies, drownings, and local political moves follow, including a plan for a mayoral independent bid and a note on a fatal river incident.
The Home Interests firm John Shillito & Co on West Fourth Street displayed an opulent Dry Goods House. The six-story building spans 72 feet by 146 feet with a basement and aub-cedar heating. The establishment houses sixteen departments including silk, lace, textiles, clothing, linens, and household furnishings.
