Daily Pro 60 Cents Leads Suit and Sundry News

A chaotic high old column reports a lawsuit in which Jive Buwee sues Jobo Slocok before Justice Bell over alleged assault with a hatchet, with a $1 fine and costs. Also noted are marriage licenses issued, drownings, a servant girl injured, a court case dismissed, arrivals in town, broad police and jail statistics, and hospital patient counts, all in a dense 19th century newspaper fragment.

Large South Front Street fire causes heavy losses

Fire on Front aterct near Pike destroyed many workshops and buildings, including Windlay carpenters shop, Shaw's woollen mill and other structures. Losses estimated between 4000 and 11000. insurance partly covers, with investigators noting old, dilapidated buildings and a near miss to a planing mill that could have raised losses to about 100000. Police court cases follow about jewelry thefts, counterfeit bills, and a bear tale from early Ohio settlement.
