The city fills with visitors eager to witness the sport next week.
The third convention of the National Association of Iron Manufacturers is in session in this city. The organization comprises most U.S. mills producing bar and merchant iron and reports the new avis furnace as superior to Dapk's. The association expanded to include all mills rolling iron and renamed to reflect this, with adjournment set for September.

Gov. Parker issued a proclamation on the Delaware River fishery question claiming jurisdiction over the river portion between Delaware and New Jersey east of the middle line and stating New Jersey citizens have a right to fish on the eastern side without terms from another state.
Representatives from Yale Harvard Amherst and Georgetown colleges met in Springfield Massachusetts and decided to hold the college regatta on the Connecticut River opposite the city on July 23.
The North German Lloyd Line steamship Baltimore departed Baltimore yesterday at 2 p m for Bremen carrying 45 cabin and 70 steerage passengers. The vessel also took a full cargo largely from the West. Also notes May 9 arrival of steamship Britannia at New York and the Erin from Liverpool.

Sheep receipts 1000 head for the week total 5400 with most offerings sold. hogs today 700 head, market flat with Illinois hogs 236 to 246 pounds selling at 4.3 to 4.5 per hundred pounds.

Hogs: 44 cars today, 42 700 head since Saturday, dressed at 54 6%c in dull market.

Baltimore May 9 The market was inactive with best bids at 7 2850 for first quality, 6 00 725 for medium quality. Weekly sales total 921 head with 932 h. receipts 6 848 head. Market remained heavy as receipts rose, prices fell to 509 900. weekly receipts 3 564 head.
Cotton markets in New Orleans Galveston Mobile Savannah and Charleston show dull to unsettled trading with firm tones in some markets. Reports cite middling prices around 22 23 cents and small to moderate receipts and stock levels across ports.
