Fairfax joins Joinvillettes London Ties and Laudent Scarfs in a bold display of neckwear. The retailer claims the largest display in America and notes extensive in‑house manufacturing allows lower prices and broader variety for customers to inspect.
Special Dispatch to the Cincinnati Gazette reports strong farming conditions across Southern Ohio with excellent wheat and promising barley rye and fruit yields. Grapes show unusual crop promise though weather and disasters could alter outcomes. In other news President Standiford of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad faces serious illness. Youngstown wins county seat case as the Supreme Court rules Canfield contract invalid and removal to Youngstown valid.
Tonight Turly Hall was crowded with Irish and American citizens who heard Dillon and Hon. Wm. J. Hinds and Hon. Wm. O'Brien of Chicago speak. The gathering was enthusiastic, the largest ever held in Bloomington. Parnell was to address Peoria tonight, with Dillon and Parnell speaking in Springfield tomorrow.
The Land League Political Fund receipts on York dated March 2 show a total of 101,124 dollars at the fund office. County treasurers report near 75,000 dollars in additional contributions across the region.
Washington March 2 The Ways and Means Committee threw markets into suspense by voting to block tariff changes this session except possibly the Fort bill. Democrats Felton Gibson and others shifted toward protection while Dunnell alone favored sugar tariff cuts, as debate foreshadows limited action until after the presidential election.

A Senate bill by Mr Bailey proposes debt refunding, Treasury bonds exchanged for new thirty year bonds at 3 percent, plus 200 million notes at 3 3/4 percent, with redemption limits and ten year maturity.

The C and N W survey party attempts to cross the Sioux Reservation at Bad River near Fort Pierre and from Fort Bennett up the Cheyenne River. Red Shirt and White Ghost lead Brule Sioux activists, warning death to the surveyors. Indians oppose the project claiming rights and vow to fight.
President Cole and Directors Lipscomb and Collier, elected by stockholders of the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway to sell the St. Louis and Southeastern and Owensboro and Nashville lines, left for Louisville to ask the Louisville and Nashville and Great Southern management if they wish to become purchasers.

Parnell arrived in Prorta Illinois today to a hearty welcome with about 1500 people at the depot. He was escorted to the Peoria House where he is scheduled to meet supporters and speak tonight before continuing his journey tomorrow.
