Telegraph dispatches report Gen. Lee moving to Richmond Petersburg, with desertions rising as rebels evacuate Charleston and Petersburg. Grant optimistic about Sherman, Washburne named to Memphis command, and heavy fighting continues at Bridgeport Alabama.
Certificate of authority for the Norwich Fire Insurance Company of Columbus to transact fire insurance in Ohio until January 31, 1866. Auditor Ames H. Godman certifies the company’s capital, liabilities, and compliance, with sworn statements of genuine ownership of at least 100000 dollars in cash capital and proper officers. The document bears the official signature and seal of the Auditor of State.
A Chattanooga Gazette report from February 23 notes Bridgeport was almost totally destroyed by fire the previous Tuesday night. The blaze left extensive damage across the town in this Alabama location.
