Fort Wayne Feb 18 A strike appears imminent of all classes of railway workers three months behind in pay. Workers demanded one month pay within ten days, second month in twenty days, third month within forty days, or face work stoppage. Section hands west of here refused to replace broken rails hindering the General Superintendent's train.
Boston transmits a heated notice urging Burlington & Quincy bondholders to oust Joy Dennison and Burnham from the Chicago Burlington line board. The card accuses mismanagement of the Dubuque road and improper use of funds, while Burlington & Quincy directors defend reliance on deceived officials and separate interests.
In a rough tally J. R. McMillan aged 48 trails by eighteen votes from the first ballot while Cole Lochren is five votes short of election. Report says five Republicans from ieverpoll and Hennepin County will join to yield a fourth ballot in joint convention today leaving Lochren at 64, Cole at 8, McMillan at 57, Ramsey at 5 and 18 scattered votes.
Columbus reports a canal inquiry recounting issues with the Ohio and Portsmouth Canal and a postponed bill. James Snow, a Columbus shirt maker, is jailed on a Michigan bigamy requisition. George D Kennedy of St Louis admits embezzling $1000, with false disguise found.
A Berlin dispatch reports Otto von Bismarck will take a six month vacation at the Emperor's request. The plan follows discussions in Berlin as the aging statesman steps back from public duties.
Pann February 18 The Right and Left Centers reach a bill for Senate organization. Assembly will appoint seventy five members who are ir removable. Remaining two hundred twenty five to be elected by Council General Municipal Councils and Arrondissement. One third to be renewed by election every three years. President agrees to relinquish executive prerogative for representation portion.
Luxton editor of the Free Press is fined 200 dollars or imprisoned for contempt after purporting remarks on the Schultz seat case. The edition notes protests and potential publication tomorrow. Reports also cover troop departures from Yokohama, Formosa expedition costs, and smallpox concerns in Japan.

William S. King responds to Minnesota Legislature rejecting inquiry into his private affairs. He denies wrongdoing, claims no bribe payments, and vows vindication when evidence permits. The letter, dated February 11, rebuts calls for resignation and attacks State Senators while defending his conduct in the Pacific Mail subsidy matter.
