From Columbus Ohio February 1s The labor reformers plan a big time at their national convention. Delegates from Pennsylvania New York and New Jersey have rooms at local hotels. A grand mass meeting will be held at City Mall with speakers from Detroit Greencastle Cincinnati New York New Jersey and Boston. Presidential candidates discussed include Palmer Parker Brown Julian Geary. A women lecture at Congregational Church Morse lectures at Opera House and a masquerade at the Rink. The Kemp Sayler contest heats in the Legislature with plans to unseat Sayler by disputing his sworn-in record.
From Washington Feb 17 a Washington lecture by Victoria Woodhull before suffrage advocates includes strong attacks on the clergy calling them dishonest and hypocritical and declaring intent to begin a revolution and stump every state from Maine to California. The dispatch also notes political maneuvers on relief bills, steamboat law amendments, and other Capitol news.
Dayton report notes a fire at Jacob Hamilton’s stable near the Preble County line with property loss and injuries. Mrs. Harris of German Town near Miami Valley suffers severe paralysis, not expected to survive. Washington Street and Soldiers' Home Street Railway incorporators announced with capital stock of $50,000 and a route from Third and Main to the Soldiers' Home. A 200-odd Fellows train attended Bro.
