Billy Lewis pleaded guilty to keeping a gambling house and was fined $200 on one count and ordered to post a $500 bond for good behavior. George Stone and H H Wyatt pleaded guilty to keeping a gambling house and were fined $100 each with costs. Bonds for good behavior remained unpaid.
Wm Schoen, indicted for grand and petit larceny, pleaded guilty to petit larceny in both cases. Sentenced to six months in the Work House for each offense and fined ten dollars with restitution ordered. John Wessels pleaded guilty to petit larceny. sentence reserved.
The jury fixed compensation for owners of aid condemned for Wideni ood street. John Brown was awarded 6008 for a 21 by 80 foot lot and John Conlon received 825 for a lease hold on the same premises. Murat Halstead testified in the McNamara case over a forged order. McNamara held for the Court of Common Pleas.
Covington reports streets filthy with limited cleanup efforts by the Street Commissioner. The First National Bank of Covington is named agent for a new national loan with subscriptions opening March 6. Newport discusses fare cuts and streetcar consolidation as city politics heat up with council votes and school board elections.
