Escape from Kenton County Jail by three prisoners
Three inmates, all confined on larceny charges, escaped Tuesday night from the Kenton County Jail in Independence. The exterior brick and interior oak building housed two Stephersons, a father and son, and Welch. they burned a timber hole and breached the brick wall to flee. In a separate civic gathering at City Hall, a large Native and Foreigner citizens meeting urged Congress to secure the release or citizenship of Americans imprisoned in British prisons. Mayor Sandford presided. a resolutions committee proposed that the U.S. government must defend all citizens, natural born or naturalization, and diplomatic efforts should pursue truth and safety of the Union.
