San Antonio Aug 28 Persons who accompanied Boss Shepherd’s party to Chihuahua Mexico report the expedition faced many perils. Upon reaching his mines he was thrown from a mule and badly hurt as was Dr. Ross. A young man named Lyman Larnard fell forty feet into a pond but escaped unhurt. Rain washed out the trail and the group wandered five days on half rations and narrowly avoided starvation.
Newark Ohio August 2 The Newark Star Glass Works owned by Mesars Shields King and Co was sold yesterday for 15000 cash to J L Everts of Cleveland. Repairs start Monday with operations expected to resume by September 15.
Indianapolis Aug 29 Hon Albert G Porter ill health caused the abandonment of his Clinton appointment. He will stay at home until Wednesday when his canvass with Mr Landers begins. In the interim other speakers will fill his engagements.
The Kentucky trial of James H Arnold ended with a not guilty verdict after a violent court scene. Pistols were drawn amid chaos as Ike Arnold and others clashed with prosecutor D W Voorhees and Senator C J Bronston.
Precial Dispatch reports from Kokomo Indiana Aug 29 about Dan Byers a Peru road brakeman severely injured while loading a circus train. He is expected to die from his wounds and speculation centers on whether he went ahead of the train or was struck.

Fr Wayne Aug 29Two brothers John and Perry Snurr ages sixteen and twenty two, both noted criminals, quarrel with teamster John Hochstrasser at a suburban brewery. Snurr struck Hochstrasser with a firewood stick twice, Hochstrasser died within half an hour. Snurrs were captured two miles from the city. The dispute began at a dance last night after drinking. In a separate note, five suspicious sickness cases aboard towboat Raven after leaving New Orleans. the National Board of Health seeks to detain the vessel, with steamer Benner dispatched to intercept if needed.
HarrissonG Pa Aug 2 E Z Wallower proprietor of the Harrisburg Independent was tried for defaming Mrs Zell under sentence of death for the murder of Mrs Kieh by republishing an article. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty but ordered him to pay costs. The prosecutor, jailed for larceny, remained in jail.
In Chicago at 9 39 p m John Orr white fired on Richard Bross and a second man after a quarrel in a basement restaurant at 204 Street. Bross and Frank Bert were present. Orr claims razors were drawn. he returned with a 32 caliber revolver and shot Bross in the breast. Bross died at county hospital shortly after.
