The stone will be laid September 13 at 11 a.m. during the fair week with invitations to Masons and city leaders. Track work is advancing toward Fort Wayne with an anticipated completion to the city by November 15.
Sprineretp O Aug 29 One feature of the coming county fair will be a balloon ascent by Mlle Lottie St Clair of Cincinnati to occur on Thursday Sept 7 the day Gen Gibson addresses the people. Chief Engineer R Q King received 125 dollars in gold won at Findlay in a firemen's tournament and the dispute is settled. A number of Methodist clergy attend the Cincinnati Conference in Dayton. Kidder Johnston Co tobacco warehouse was robbed last evening and one thief Kit Kills nephew of James Kills was captured.
Simon Summers barn near Salem Ohio was struck by lightning, burning barn and stored crops totalling about 1600 dollars. James M. Ryland, arrested for stealing freight from trains on the A B and O line, pleaded guilty and drew a one year term in the state prison. His accomplice remains at large.
A new fire engine arrived from Ahrens & Co Boston tested today with many spectators. Steam raised and water discharged in 3 minutes 15 seconds. A 1 1/4 inch nozzle threw a 265 foot stream and two 1 inch nozzles sent streams 203 feet. Engineers call it satisfactory and it will go into service at once. The Blanchester Fair opened today with large crowds and good grounds conditions after rain. Entries exceed prior years and M O R B passengers traveling at half fare.

From Syracuse New York Aug 29 the State Committee of New York Se Syracuse University met to assist in establishing the Syracuse University unit. A convention committee planned a $500000 fund to underwrite the effort. The building of the unit will be laid this afternoon by Peck president of Northwestern University. Rev George Landers Pomeroy cotton boiler maker and Rush Heaton lap maker Joba Brothers auger makers turut listed.
