An old print advertises Dr Radway s Sarsaparillian Resolvent as a universal blood purifier and remedy for a wide range of chronic diseases. It claims to cleanse sores pimples and skin issues and to cure scrofula syphilitic diseases and other bodily ailments. Sold by druggists.
An advertisement extols Radway’s Ready Relief as the cheapest and best medicine for family use worldwide. It claims to cure or prevent numerous ailments from flu and sore throat to cramps, rheumatism, and injuries. Instructions suggest diluting a few drops in water for various pains and travelers are urged to carry a bottle. price is fifty cents.
An ad for Radway's Regulating Pills promises cure of stomach and liver disorders, indigestion, fever, and nervous complaints. It asserts the pills are mercury free and sold by druggists, with a mail offer for information and a price per box.

Hillsdale Michigan April 5 reform ticket wins a close city election with about 70 to 100 majority. A Everett is mayor and Russell treasurer elected. Detroit Michigan April 5 Republican gains reported with Gen Graves re-elected Justice of the Supreme Court on both tickets. Marston leads ticket with large majority for justice. In the county C J Riley Democrat wins circuit judge. George S Swift re-elected recorder.
At Axnapouis Missouri municipal election day, Democrats swept the ticket by 85 votes. A clash in the First Ward between black and white residents led to pistol fire, killing one colored man and wounding six, with two white men also injured. The trouble arose when colored Republicans tried to stop a negro Democrat from voting.
A Cincinnati led probe closes Capron and Reynolds boot shops in Indianapolis revealing a forged stock scam. The confederacy used fake names, falsified finances, and sold goods at half cost to auction houses. A fire later damaged the I C L Railroad bridge near the city, suspected arson amid ongoing investigations.
Terre Haute Ohio April 5. E B Bennett, feeder, cut off right hand at lower nail works. George E Wright, sewing-machine agent from Greenup Illinois, missing two months, found in Mattoon Illinois. He had disappeared in Terre Haute, thought murdered, but was in Ohio with a wife. He is described as a consummate liar and rascal.
Evansville voters today chose the Democratic slate for all offices except the treasurer and one council seat. The results leave the party with a full slate except for those two positions in the April 5 charter election.
At Eaton Ohio the Excelsior School seat Company machine shops burned about 7 PM destroying the building. Estimated loss about 10000 with insurance. In San Francisco the University Mound College in South San Francisco burned last night a total loss affecting about sixty students with a claimed 40000 to 50000 dollar damage plus 10000 extra for teachers and pupils and 25000 insurance. In Pittsburgh a fire at the Citizens White Lead and Color Works caused about 10000 in damage with unknown origin and insured.
The president of this city, 0. M. Nichols, will lease to furnish full information to parties across the state who wish to arrange meetings in their localities.
Wasumeroy April 5 claim of American Seal Lock Co against the Treasury for large extra compensation has been rejected. The commission found no contract and the Treasury not bound for sums claimed. Judge Blatchford’s course to-morrow in the Dana case draws interest as Grand Jury proceedings are revealed as improper attempts to summon Dana. Kentucky appoints Winfield S. Holden as Internal Revenue Collector in Covington District. Whisky tax effects revenue. March receipts forecasted to fall but actuals show surprise gains. Assistant Attorney General Hill reportedly plans to resign to return to private practice.
The President stated that he had not expressed views to anyone on Mexican frontier outrages. Military orders were issued for frontier protection. further actions depend on forthcoming advisement. Phillip Baier a second year Concordia College student from Fort Wayne drowned last Saturday in Huntington Indiana. The tragedy involved a young man still pursuing his courses and sheds light on a somber accident at a local site.
San Francisco reports unusually cold weather with a light snow fall across central California raising fears for the fruit crop. Senators Stewart and Gorham were aboard the overland train. A rear car on the Northern Pacific line derailed in a 40 foot ravine after strong winds. Reverend Avery of Tomales was probably fatally injured, with many others severely hurt.
The Ohio Sunday school Union held two Sunday school mass meetings last night with broad attendance. Speeches were delivered by the nt and by several city clergy and laymen. More such meetings are planned across the state on subsequent Sundays in Piqua Tycoon and Troy on April 18. Sandusky Erie Huron and Seneca counties will meet at Bellevue that day to promote the effort. The events are authorized by the President and the Executive Committee of the State Society and further meetings are hoped for in other locales.
